Our 2025-2026 season will be another major milestone for Michigan’s top regional orchestra as we celebrate 81 years offering amazing music for a widely diverse audience.

Timeless Music From The Phil

Founded in Plymouth in 1945 as the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra, today the Michigan Philharmonic is a highly-respected regional orchestra performing throughout communities in southeast Michigan.

Our Music Director and Conductor, Nan Washburn, is embarking on her 27 th season. Nan’s leadership has been the second longest in the Phil’s 80-year history, surpassed by only one other conductor. She is also the only woman to ever have led the regional orchestra.

Throughout its 80 years “the Phil” has remained focused on music, community and education. Besides presenting a full season of concerts as well as numerous summer events, the Phil partners with area school districts, PARC, the Wayne County Community College District, the Huron Clinton Metroparks, Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, and the Detroit Institute of Arts for performances throughout southeast Michigan.

The Michigan Philharmonic Youth Orchestra provides young musicians numerous opportunities to hone their skills and take part in an array of programs and performances.

This season features 8 concerts including a variety of both classical and pops with a special emphasis on diversity and contemporary repertoire. Highlights include: two world premieres, a Barbra Streisand songbook, our annual Halloween and Holiday concerts and an 80th birthday bash to kick it all off in September.
